From the time Tammy was a little girl, she always loved to work on projects, from latch hook to cross stitch. Her grandmother inspired her to make her first quilt in the early ‘80s by sewing 5” blocks together by hand. Soon after, Tammy’s parents, Harry and Jane Watkins, bought the Somerset Sewing Center. There, the staff taught her how to sew and she has been sewing ever since.
Tammy has been attending Viking educational events since the early ‘80s, including Sew Fest events and National Conventions.
In 1992, Tammy attended the Palmer/Pletsch fitting seminar, along with friend Kathy Lorson, in Portland, Oregon for a week. Also, with the help of Sue Hausmann, she published her first pattern. The pattern was called Tammy’s Tie Me Knot dedicated to her late husband, Leroy Glessner. This was a tie with a zipper for ease of getting on and off. She was asked by Viking-Husqvarna to teach a class in 1993 at the National Convention in Florida. Also, the pattern was featured in Sew News magazine.
In July of 2008, Bob and Tammy Sheeler purchased the Somerset Sewing Center.
